Community Benefits Program
Events and Workshops
As part of its ongoing commitment to the local community, LaGuardia Airport develops special events and workshops tailored to the needs of its neighbors. Focus is on creating high quality programs and services based on resources and the knowledge base of the Port Authority, LaGuardia Airport Redevelopment and its partners – LaGuardia Gateway Partners, Delta Air Lines and Skanska/Walsh, with the goal of fostering growth and independence in the community
Council for Airport Opportunity
Council for Airport Opportunity is a nonprofit trade association created through a partnership of airline companies, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and including the Mayor’s Offices of the City of Newark and City of New York and the Federal Aviation Administration. CAO addresses the critical employment needs of the communities surrounding the New York and New Jersey Metropolitan airports, while at the same time responding to the hiring needs of the airport tenants and the aviation industry.
Community Outreach Center
There is an increasing need to proactively interface with the community on a daily basis. LaGuardia Airport is planning to open a neighborhood Community Outreach Center that will be open during daytime and certain evening hours to provide information and answer questions about the Redevelopment Program. Attended by employees and volunteers with knowledge of the Program, visitors’ concerns can be addressed quickly.
Program Publications
Monthly newsletter will provide the public with updates on project activities, schedules of key events and related information including details on how to find additional information on the Program website or where the public can seek assistance.
